There a lot of great ideas out there for inventions that need to be manufactured. The biggest 2 questions that need pretty firm answers are: What will this product cost to be made? and can I make a reasonable profit? also: as much as I adore my great idea: will it be the next big thing and sell millions? Being an engineer I tend to focus on technical issues: can the components be made at a good price? how will it all be assembled? Are raw materials available and can I get them consistently? Remember any and all tooling costs.
Boy, I mentioned a lot of questions and still have just scratched the surface. As long as you have the inner drive and passion to pursue your idea I am pretty sure you will succeed. Just remember those first 2 questions and be thorough with the details.
